• The New York Times profiles author Martin Amis (The New York Times, via Largehearted Boy)
• 10 bands that really ought to call it quits. (Flavorwire) I agree with most, if not all, of these. It’s a mix of lead-singer-reforms-with-no-names and bands that have just outlived their usefulness. I’m especially fond of the zinger at the end of the INXS entry.
• Very useful: Indie author Lindsay Buroker lists who she uses for editing, cover design and more. (Lindsay Buroker)
• Apparently, the CFL and NFL met semi-regularly decades ago. (ProFootballTalk)
• Tom Spurgeon is listing the comics he read in series form in the 1980s. I’ve enjoyed each entry, but I found that the last line of his Marvelman entry resonated with me: “A lot of comics are like that, instant friends of the dormitory hallway variety and then suddenly you’re both decades older and you haven’t spoken in years and years.” Anyway, good stuff. (The Comics Reporter)
